Event Manager (Orlando, Jacksonville, Pittsburgh)

As an event manager for Memoir Agency, LLC, you will help us in creating unforgettable memories for all that are involved with our events. To accomplish this goal, you will work alongside the project manager to build a team of professionals and then lead them by example throughout the event.

Event Manager Job Responsibilities:

As an event manager you will be responsible for assisting the project manager in organizing and coordinating Memoir Agency events. This includes helping with the hiring process by providing input on new hires, as well as supporting the project manager with minor administrative tasks. If necessary, the Event Manager will also assist the Project Manager to train event staff. Once our staff is onboarded, the event manager will assist the project manager in finalizing all relevant event details while taking over daily operations of the event. This includes overseeing, unloading and ensuring the safe and timely installation of all Memoir assets for load-in, as well as removal for load-out. Furthermore, responsibilities during the event include:

-Daily, on-site management of event production, logistics, and staff
-Liaising with venue staff/management
-Coaching, Mentoring, and Motivating a diverse group of event professionals in regard to Memoir’s customer experience standards.
-Manage staff concerns, and resolve conflict. Escalate to management if necessary
-Direct and lead a team for load in and load out of the event, including third parties/vendors
-Managing all staff scheduling via email/internal communication tools.
-Assisting with any additional hiring (if necessary) throughout the event.
-Performing Risk Management, and making appropriate recommendations in real time
-Ability to track expenses
-Ability to oversee, manage and solve potential event/guest emergencies.

Qualifications for Event Manager

Education:
- 2 year degree from an accredited university in Event Management, Hospitality, or another relevant field or
High School Diploma or GED with 2 Years experience in Event Management
- Experience in event technology or production is preferred but not required

- Has the ability to handle high pressure situations and guest interactions
- Has a working knowledge of Google Workspace tools
- Has the ability to effectively interact with people of diverse (socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic) backgrounds
- Has working knowledge of hand/power tools
- Must have working Laptop/Tablet
- Must have reliable transportation

Position Details:

While this position includes some remote responsibilities, the majority of the work takes place on location. Our events take place outdoors, so the event manager will need to be comfortable working in the elements during both the day and night. This includes, but is not limited to, exposure to the sun, hot and cold temperatures, rain and other severe weather, as well as bugs like mosquitoes and ants.

This job will also include physically demanding duties, such as standing and/or walking for long periods. The event manager may also be asked to handle objects without an established maximum weight, though most objects will be below 50 lbs. Handling of objects may include lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Reasonable accommodations may be made to allow differently-abled individuals to perform the essential functions of the job.

Hours:

Hours for this position vary week to week. However, event managers should expect to work:
- A minimum of 40 hours per week for load-in
- A minimum of 35 hours ON SITE per week during the run of the show
- Additional hours to provide pre-show support, complete staff schedules, and pick-up necessary event materials

In order to compensate for variable workloads, the event manager will always be paid for 40 hours each week as long as all weekly goals are met, along with the hourly minimums listed above. Additional hours will need to be logged by the event manager and will be paid out at a rate of $25/hr.
